WHY MY LESSONS ARE DIFFERENT.

I do what other teachers CAN'T or WON'T do.
I TEACH SKILLS
While other teachers waste your time, money and enthusiasm teaching you bits and pieces of songs, favourite tunes and party pieces........
I GIVE YOU A START THAT WILL KEEP YOU PLAYING FOR LIFE!!
I teach all ages, levels and styles. I concentrate on developing real world skills that will allow students to be successful at auditions, jam sessions and open mic nights.....or just be a good social player for fun at a family get together.
I teach social players to the same high standard as my more career orientated students.

PROFESSIONAL TUITION
Learning bits and riffs of favourite songs is just entertainment, not tuition…and I see a lot of this when I take on students from less experienced teachers or people who have tried to teach themselves from the net or video.
I have a structured program that will take you from an absolute beginner to where ever you want to go, be it social playing, to amateur band, or industry pro.
When you have reached a certain level of skill....we take your interests in to account and help you play the style or songs that inspire you. IT ALSO HAS TO BE FUN TOO :-)

HI TECH ONLINE CUBASE AUDIO STUDIO
WHAT DO YOU NEED

***BASIC SETUP

**** 1 A laptop or desktop computer.....Pads/phones don't work very well and I won't guarantee a good experience.

BUT WE CAN GIVE THEM A TRY.

**** 2 The ZOOM desktop client....FREE. Not the browser version....(which is why you need a laptop or desktop computer.)

*** 3 You will need a good internet connection. If you can stream movies without interruption then that's usually good enough.

My advice would be to download and install the ZOOM client, play around with it, and use it to video yourself. If this works I can help you with the best settings.

OPTIONAL

**** 4 A separate webcam (might not be necessary with a recent laptop)

**** 5 Maybe an inexpensive set of headphones. This prevents an ECHO effect sometimes experienced when using speakers.

 HIGH QUALITY SETUP
It will help if you set yourself up with the following.

*****NOT NECESSARY FOR THE FREE TRIAL LESSONS HOWEVER******

**** 1 An inexpensive USB microphone. AROUND $35-50.....
Headset combos don't work.

**** 2 A device for playing back "play along" tunes.

COMPUTER SPEAKERS WON'T CUT IT
*Could be a phone with a Bluetooth extension speaker.
*A boombox that takes a USB stick.
*An old school stereo system in the room.

Having come from another local teacher I can confidently say Bob and his method are light years ahead of what I’ve personally encountered. His highly organised and structured program put you in the best position to develop as a player regardless of how far you want to go with it. I was pleasantly surprised (and frankly a little shocked-after what I was used to) at the quality of the resources he provides. Text books , backing tracks and videos coming seamlessly together in a systematic way to teach you the lessons are testimony to the time and effort Bob has put into his program. No hastily scribbled pieces of paper anywhere to be seen.Combined with Bob’s patience and good humour I would recommend to anyone wanting to give music a go to look Bob up. He’s a great teacher!

Bob is a fantastic Musician & teacher. He makes learning fun & possibly to reach your goals with the instrument you want to learn, & most importantly he really cares about your progress & getting you to the next level. I highly recommend Bob to anyone who wants to learn.

Been going to Bob for about 7 months now and he has improved my technical skills drastically. I highly encourage all ages to get lessons from him as he takes time in structuring his lessons INDIVIDUALLY for his students (I have multiple other friends who go to him, so I hear what they learn too) depending on their starting level. Always having a good laugh with Bob too, strongly recommend attending, the sooner the better.

Bob is an amazing, professional, and extremely talented musician.
My daughter has been with him since primary school and now has such a skill and passion for music she has continued into year 9 high school and plans to take it up as an elective.
My other daughter has taken up Bass and in such a short time has learnt so much.
He is unlike Like other music teaching facilities around which do not teach the important fundamentals first.
My daughters can not only play, they write music and compose songs.
They both adore Bob and have developed this teacher student bond.
He is patient and kind and his vast knowledge and his passion for music and teaching comes through always.
My recommendation can not come high enough for this person that has instilled a love for music in both my children.
That in itself is priceless

The best guitar teacher I have ever seen. We have cycled through too many music schools and teachers. Bob has by far got the best out of me and my 10 year old.

I cannot recommend Campbelltown Guitar Lessons with Bob enough. We have been elsewhere in the area and my son was not progressing. As soon as we started with Bob I noticed something clicked with my son and he was on his way. Bob has a wide knowledge of music and instruments and his teaching style is thorough with just the right amount of fun.

I have been a guitar student with Bob for a few years. Bob has had a huge amount of experience in the music industry, including many years as a teacher. Bob’s experience and professionalism is reflected in the way he conducts lessons for his students. Bob is very patient and understanding in regard to his students needs and abilities. Bob is also very proficient in a number of instruments. Bob is a great teacher, I recommend him to anyone wanting to learn anything about music.

I was missing something from my Guitar playing and after trying to keep up with various You Tube videos, I could not do any worthwhile playing. I found Bob and have been attending for over 6 months now and I have learned heaps - chords, easy and difficult, timing (something I never had) confidence and an inner delight that I am making progress. And as Nob states - Perfect Practice will make Perfect Playing! His facilities are very good, his style is relaxed, and he is very knowledgeable. I am so glad I have signed up with Bob - Recommend him to all levels of playing guitar. Thank you

I have started guitar lessons with Bob and have enjoyed the lessons immensely. The practice materials Bob supplies are great. They are easy to use and very helpful. Particularly the backing songs which help with timing and getting the beat. As a beginner he is very patient and has a wealth of experience to share. I would have no hesitation in recommending Bob’s studio for guitar lessons.

When I started to learn guitar, I tried a number of teachers but was not happy with my progress. I had one teacher who went to sleep during my lesson, while another used my lesson time for his own practice. None of them had a lesson plan and I realised I was being taught by guitar players, not guitar teachers. Fortunately my brother introduced me to Bob and I haven’t looked back. Bob is a music industry professional with a structured and systematic approach to teaching guitar. I have no hesitation in recommending Bob as a great guitar teacher

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

* WHEN DO I TEACH
See available times tab

* WHAT IF I HAVE NO TALENT….WHAT HAPPENS IF I CAN’T DO IT ?
Firstly we all have an inbuilt ability for music...it just takes time, patience and the right advice.

On the 1st lesson we work out if there are any issues that would prevent you from learning effectively.
For example:
* An unplayable instrument
* A hand injury
* Substandard internet connection.
* Computer and equipment issues
* Lack of time to practice.
IF ANY ONE OF THESE BECOMES AN ISSUE THEN I WON'T TAKE YOU ON

* AM I TOO OLD ?

I have adult students aged from 30-80 and they are all doing well. Check out my reviews to see what other older learners have experienced.

Most adults have the belief that if they didn't start as a child then “it's too late”

NONSENSE. But lot of adults suffer from the “I’m too old” syndrome….I’m here to tell you that adults make the great students. They’re more focused than kids, and understand that if you put in a bit of work you will be rewarded.

They do have a few slight physical problems because of years of work injuries, RSIs, and old sporting injuries.
I take it slowly, and at a pace your hand feels comfortable with.

* HOW DOES PAYMENT WORK?

You pay in 4 week lots, direct debit

* WHAT IF I MISS A LESSON?

You are booking my time, so no refunds or make up lessons.

* HOW MUCH PRACTICE SHOULD I DO ?

When you first start....15 minutes a day, 4-5 days a week is enough. Your hands need a couple of days rest when you first start.

Once you have been playing about a month you should start to practice about 30 minutes a day 5 days a week. This will give you the kind of progress that will keep you encouraged to keep learning.

* HOW LONG WILL IT TAKE TO PLAY A SONG ?

People usually start playing easy songs by the 3rd lesson. I have heaps of MODERN hand picked tunes to give you a good time.

* WHAT SHOULD I BUY TO START WITH ?

You need to give me a call about this.....I can save you a lot of money and help you get a good playable instrument to start on.

WHAT KIND ON PROGRESS CAN I EXPECT?

There are countless media savvy sites promising that you'll play like a rock star in a month, (with heroic rockstar images).....or claiming they have the one secret that will unlock your playing and bring you spectacular results in days/weeks..(with lots of fake testimonials and likes from overseas click farms)

ALL OF MY REVIEWS AND IMAGES ON MY SITES ARE FOM PEOPLE I HAVE TAUGHT OR THEIR PARENTS.

TO LEARN TO PLAY WELL TAKES TIME, GOOD ADVICE, AND PRACTICE OF COURSE.

I DON'T JUST THROW A LOT OF INFORMATION AT YOU AND LEAVE YOU TO WORK IT OUT YOURSELF

I MENTOR YOU THROUGH THE WHOLE PROCESS, MAKING SURE THAT YOU ARE PLAYING THINGS CORRECTLY AND TO A HIGH STANDARD BEFORE I MOVE YOU ON TO THE NEXT STAGE.
This is where a lot of "teach yourself online" courses fail...and where a lot of private face to face teachers all fail miserably as well. A lot of teachers seem to be to worried that their students will leave if they don't get a new exercise every week or don't get to play their favourite songs every lesson. So playing Smoke on the Water or 7 Nation Army with one finger and non existent timing timing is not value for money in my opinion...

IT'S JUST ENTERTAINTMENT.

MY ATTITUDE IS...LEARN TO PLAY PROPERLY.... AND YOU'LL PLAY FOR LIFE!

There's a methodology to getting a student from Point A to B and giving the students the best progress and value for money, and I stick to my guns on this.

There are so many sites on the web where people will demonstrate how to play your favourite song for free....
Why pay a teacher for something you can get on the net for free?

WHAT YOU ARE PAYING FOR WITH ME IS A STRUCTURED PLAN TO GET YOU WHERE YOU WANT TO BE, AT A STANDARD THAT COULD BE REGARDED AS COMPETENT IN ANYONES ESTIMATION.

***************************************************PROGRESS**************************************************
This is based on 30mins per day, 5-7 days a week.....Assuming you have no physical problems, learning difficulties and a playable instrument.

*** AFTER 4-6 WEEKS
You should be able to play and change between 6-8 chords and play in time. There are many well known tunes that you will be able to work on to keep this interesting. You will learn to play from chord charts (not TAB).

*** AFTER 3 MONTHS
You should be able to play and change between 8-12 chords, play in time, and have mastered a number of
useful strum patterns to suit different styles of music.

*** AFTER 6 MONTHS
You should be able to play and change between the main 18 or so basic open string chords, play in time and have mastered a number of useful strum patterns to suit different styles of music. You will be able to play along with recordings or other players, keep your place in the music, and most importantly, find your place again correctly if you do get lost.

*** AFTER 12 MONTHS
You should be able to play and change between the main 18 or so basic open string chords, and have mastered at least 20 other less important but very useful open string chords that are used in a lot of styles.

By this time you will have mastered and will understand the mathematics of timing and will be able to play along with a huge variety of songs and styles.

At this point in time you will start to learn your bar chords.

*** AFTER 18 MONTHS

By now you will have mastered about 30 bar and movable chords, plus some power chords as well.

BAR CHORDS......YOUR KEY TO MUSICAL FREEDOM!!!
Why learn them?.........because a lot of chords just don’t exist as open chords .
D#min, Ab7, G#maj, Bbm, Eb7 and many, many more.

So to be free to play any song that interests you, you need to learn these chords.
Bar and open chord can be mixed freely together in any song.

AT THIS POINT IN TIME YOU WILL HAVE THE SKILLS TO BE A 1st RATE SOCIAL PLAYER OR A BEGINNER BAND PLAYER....YOUR CHOICE.

To progress you as a band player I usually start people on LEAD GUITAR at this point.

COST

My fees reflect my experience and professionalism.

Yes...They are higher than most online....but about average for face to face, private, one on one lessons at professional music schools.

I'm not going to compete with people who have been playing for 10 years and teaching for 2-3 years, and teaching as a "Side Hustle" for pin money.

I'm sorry...a couple of bands in high school or Uni doesn't cut it as a "professional" career.

Nor does teaching a few kids to play bits and pieces of their favourite songs or a few open string chords make you a professional teacher.
This is typical of the vast number of teachers both on line and face to face.

Pop over to my other site and read the
"You deserve the best" section.
